The smaller our bank account grows, the richer and richer we become. As of the
Spring 2009, we are a group of ten adults--many with
families--working and serving this ministry in a multiplicity of roles.
Many of us have strong academic and professional backgrounds; all
of us work hard as needed doing basic physical labor. We build,
we cook, we clean, we wait tables, we garden, we harvest, we soak and
sprout, we slaughter and pluck and smoke and pickle, we weed and herd
and milk and feed. We sing and dance and praise and preach and serve
and encourage everyone we meet to surrender to Christ. We enjoy life. We
laugh and play games. We enjoy eating together.
We share precious worship
experiences in organized services, but also time in the fields and
riding horses and sharing meals. We sing together
and write music, and share our dreams. We host folks from all over the
world. We teach children everything we know, from academic subjects to
fishing, from music theory to how
to plant a garden, pluck a chicken or pickle a
cabbage. For us there is no separation between learning and everyday
life. For us there is no separation between Jesus and
anything. We are excited to know and share and pray and bless and
be blessed by everybody God sends through our swinging gates and the
end of the road that bear our name Everything
Jesus!. Our ministry
team members live here on
the ranch as a community. We live in simple,
comfortable (must be) beautiful, individual and family homes. Most
homes heat with wood stoves and cool with screen windows, overhangs,
proper orientation, fans and God's gift of the breeze, of which we have
an abundance. Some of our homes are use solar energy. We share all of
our wonderful food, and pool our resources--financial and otherwise--to
meet the individual needs of each family and individual. Our kids go to school here, and kids from surrounding communities attend our school as well. We are at least 20 minutes from everything (so it seems) and most community kids carpool to get here. Some of are over 50 and retired; some of us are young marrieds who have just finished college. Some of us are single parents. Saturday is
an
exciting hard work ministry and hospitality day for us. Sunday we
rotate milking our cows, we worship, and folks go on outings or ride or
have friends over or sleep away the afternoon. Mondays are planning
days. We meet, crunch numbers, trade ideas, run personal errands, and
pretty much coast. Our school
week (even Summer camp and
academic days) is Tuesday through Friday, 8-4. Our older kids work on
Saturdays, giving tours and serving and praying with folks who come to
spend time here.Everyone who is here today is here because God has told them that this is where they should be, and they feel blessed and delighted to be operating in God's will. Our income is small, our vision for ministry is vast and amazing. We live simply on what God gives us, investing most of it in the continued development of the ranch, school and ministry programs. We are
praying for God to send more
people who are unencumbered by the world, and see that God wants them
to be a part of His work in this place. continue to see available
ministry positions:We need men and women who know and walk with Jesus to serve as teachers in the following areas: Spanish, pottery, instrumental music, sustainable integrated science, and theatre arts, culinary arts. We need welders, heavy equipment operators, carpenters, folks who really know how to work and are interested in green building techniques like compressed earth block (we have a machine), stucco, plaster, and practical, sustainable alternatives to non-renewable energy sources. We are striving to move to complete off-grid living. We need
gadget-gifted
inventor types who know how to work a junkyard and create tools and
equipment that save time and solve problems without soiling or sucking
the life out of our planet (if God has given you this gift, you'll know
what we're looking for).We need people who are gratified by creating healthy delicious food. We make our own butter and cheese, sprout and dehydrate just about everything, are always creating new recipes, slaughter our own animals, brine, pickle, smoke, and try to make sure that about 60% of the food we eat each day is raw. A passion for cooking an energy to do it, and a desire to learn is all that we require. We need people who realize that being able to spend all day in a garden is an incredible opportunity and a gift from God. A desire to plant and harvest food and flowers, and the energy to do it is
what is required. We need people whose idea of heaven is hanging out with animals. Our free-range livestock requires some babysitting--simply herding from one pasture to another, watching them to know their personalities and needs. An animal loving senior with the energy to move about and monitor our livestock would be a great contribution to our ministry team. |
