Genesis Christian Church (GCC). She was the director of the first
Genesis Christian Academy established in St. Kitts-Nevis, a tiny

EDWARD D. YOUNG, III is Chairman of
Genesis Too Foundation, Inc, the 501(c) (3) nonprofit corporation that
supports Genesis Christian Academy. Genesis Christian Academy is a
tuition-free, college preparatory school. He is actively involved in the
opening of a new campus of Genesis Christian Academy in Seguin, TX. Mr.
Young works with both parents and students. The most rewarding part of
the job is the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with
others as you also improve their educational situation, said Young to a
recent group of corporate executives.
Before joining the Genesis family, Mr. Young was a senior vice
president for Verizon, located in the telecommunications giants
Washington office. A lawyer by training, he was responsible for all
policy matters at the federal level and all relationships with the
Federal Communications Commission. He was also responsible for all
international regulatory and public policy matters. Mr. Young retired
from Verizon in 2004 after a 20-year career with Verizon and Bell
Atlantic, Verizons predecessor company.
During his career, Mr. Young has been a leader in reforming
telecommunications regulation to permit customer choice, and not
regulation, to decide how new technologies are introduced. In 1988, he
won regulatory approval for Bell Atlantic's Caller ID service - the
first in the world. In 1992, he was instrumental in getting the New
Jersey legislature to overhaul its telecommunications laws--the first
successful regulatory reform effort in New Jersey since 1919. In 1998,
he petitioned the FCC to refrain from regulating high-speed data
services - the backbone of the Internet. In 2000, he won approval of the
Bell Atlantic-GTE merger that created Verizon.
Mr. Young speaks and writes frequently about telecommunications
issues and has testified before Congress and state legislatures. He has
taught Administrative Law at Seton Hall University School of Law. Also,
he is frequently consulted by other countries seeking to change their
telecommunications laws and is listed in the International Who's Who of
Professionals.
Mr. Young is married to the Rev. Gina Tillman-Young, who is the
pastor of Genesis Christian Church and the executive director of Genesis
Christian Academy. The Youngs have a total of ten children, five of whom
Mr. Young delivered at home. The Youngs reside on a ranch in Seguin,
Texas. |
